Is Mionetto Prosecco sweet?

No, Mionetto Prosecco Brut is dry and crisp; "brut" on a bubbly label means dry, though the fruit gives it a friendly, easygoing feel.

Is it worth $13?
Yes. At about $13 it's one of the best-value Proseccos you can grab, and the orange label is easy to spot.
Who it’s for
Anyone who wants a lighter, drier bubbly for parties, toasts or mimosas. If you like a softer, fruitier fizz, La Marca is the move.
How to serve it
Very cold. Keep a bottle in the fridge for spontaneous celebrating.
The backstory
Mionetto goes back to 1887, when Francesco Mionetto started selling fizzy wine from his backyard vineyard in Valdobbiadene, the hilly heart of Prosecco country. His grandsons revived the winery in the 1960s, and in 2008 it became part of the German sparkling giant Henkell, now Henkell Freixenet. Like most Prosecco, the bubbles are made in big steel tanks, which keeps it fresh, fruity and cheap. The Brut version has less sugar than many Proseccos, so it ends crisp.
How it compares
- Mionetto vs La Marca
La Marca is Extra Dry, so it's softer and a touch sweeter; Mionetto is crisper and a little cheaper, and better if sweet bubbly isn't your thing.
- Mionetto vs Freixenet
Same parent company, different style: Freixenet is Spanish Cava with a toasty, nutty edge, while Mionetto is lighter and more about green apple and pear.
- Mionetto vs Korbel
Korbel is California bubbly that's a bit softer and simpler; Mionetto is fresher and drier for about the same money.

Questions people ask
- Is Mionetto Prosecco good?
- Yes, it's one of the best cheap Proseccos around: crisp, fresh and easy to like for about $13. It won't taste like Champagne, and it isn't trying to.
- Is Mionetto Prosecco Champagne?
- No. Champagne only comes from the Champagne region of France and gets its bubbles in the bottle. Mionetto is Italian Prosecco, made from the Glera grape, with bubbles made in a tank.
- Is Mionetto Prosecco good for mimosas?
- Very. It's dry and cheap, so it doesn't make the orange juice taste sugary, and you won't feel bad pouring it into a mixer.
- How much is Mionetto Prosecco?
- About $11 to $15 for a 750 ml bottle, often less at Costco. The mini 187 ml bottles come in multipacks too.
- How do you open a bottle of Mionetto Prosecco?
- Take off the foil and loosen the wire cage, then keep a thumb on the cork. Hold the cork still and slowly turn the bottle until it sighs open, pointed away from faces.
- Who owns Mionetto?
- Henkell Freixenet, the German-based sparkling wine group that also owns Freixenet. It bought Mionetto in 2008.
