Privacy Policy

Moxie Vino is made by Jakie Studios LLC. This policy covers the Moxie Vino iPhone app and this website. Plain version: we collect what the app needs to work, we do not sell your data, and we do not run advertising.

What we collect

• Your account. An email address, and a name and profile photo if you sign in with Google or Apple. If you use Sign in with Apple’s hide-my-email option, we only ever see the relay address.
• Wine label photos. Photos you take or upload so the app can read the label.
• What you save and rate. Bottles in your stash, ratings, tasting notes, and when you drank something.
• Subscription status. Whether you have an active subscription, handled through Apple and RevenueCat. We never see your card details.
• A device identifier. Used only to allow one free scan before you create an account, and to stop that being abused.
• Your email, if you ask to hear when the app is live. The signup on this website collects your email address, that you said you’re 21 or older, the exact wording you agreed to, when, and which page you signed up from. We also keep a scrambled (hashed) copy of your network address so we can stop spam signups.
• Crash and error reports. Technical diagnostics when something goes wrong.

What we do not collect

No location tracking, no contacts, no advertising identifiers, no cross-app tracking. We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.

What goes to the AI

Moxie Vino uses Claude, an AI made by Anthropic, to read labels and menus and to suggest pairings and picks. The app asks before the first time anything is sent, and you can turn it off any time in the app under You → AI features. When you use those features, our server sends Anthropic:

• The label, menu and wine list photos you take or upload.
• What you type, such as the dish you are cooking.
• When it helps the answer: the wines in your stash, your ratings, your taste quiz answers, your food preferences, and the voice you picked for descriptions.

Your name and email are never sent. Anthropic processes this only to return the result and, under their commercial terms, does not use it to train their models. Label photos are stored in your account so the bottle has a picture in your stash. Delete the bottle and the photo goes with it.

Launch emails

If you sign up on this website, we use your email to tell you when Moxie Vino is on the App Store and to send the occasional wine pick or update. That’s it. The list is kept in our own database (hosted by Supabase), never sold, rented or shared for anyone else’s marketing.

To unsubscribe, use the link at the bottom of any email we send, or write to hi@jakiestudios.com and we’ll take you off the list. Unsubscribing from emails doesn’t affect your app account.

Who else is involved

• Supabase: database, sign-in, and file storage.
• Anthropic: the AI that reads labels and writes pairings.
• Apple: the App Store and all payments.
• RevenueCat: keeps track of subscription status.
• Google and Apple: only if you choose to sign in with them.
• Sentry: crash and error reporting.
• Vercel: hosts this website.

Each of these services only gets what it needs to do its job, and is bound by its terms with us to protect your data with the same or equal protection described in this policy.

Households

Moxie Vino lets you share a stash with someone else in your household. Anything you add to a shared stash is visible to the other people in it. That is the point of the feature, but it is worth knowing before you write a tasting note.

How long we keep it

Your data stays until you delete it or close your account. Deleted bottles are held briefly in a recoverable state so an accidental delete can be undone, then removed.

You can delete your account any time in the app under You → Delete account. That removes your account and ratings straight away, along with your stash and label photos unless someone else in your household still shares them, and disconnects Sign in with Apple if you used it. Moxie Vino and Moxie Menu share one sign-in, so this deletes a Moxie Menu account too. You can also email us to close your account and we will delete your personal data within 30 days, apart from anything we have to keep for tax or legal reasons.

Your choices

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hi@jakiestudios.com. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under the GDPR or California law; we apply the same process to everyone regardless.

Children

Moxie Vino is about alcohol and is not for anyone under 21. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the date above and tell you in the app. Questions go to hi@jakiestudios.com.
