Is it worth $15?

Yes, it is a few dollars cheaper than Meiomi with a similar smooth, fruity appeal. If you want a lighter, brighter red for less, Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais-Villages is worth a try.

Who it’s for

For people new to red wine and anyone who likes soft, fruity reds with dinner. If you want an earthy, tart Pinot, this will feel a little too smooth.

How to serve it

The backstory

Bread & Butter started as a small Napa label and grew fast, from under 90,000 cases in 2015 to about 200,000 by 2017, when Marin County-based WX Brands bought it. Since 2021 WX Brands has been majority owned by the Bemberg family. The whole idea is in the name: everyday wine, no fuss. The Pinot gets a little American and French oak, which is where that soft vanilla comes from.
